Privacy and cookie policy

This page explains what personal data the website www.ilvicolostorico.com collects, why, and what your rights are. The website is deliberately simple: it uses no analytics or advertising cookies and never asks you to sign up.

What data we process and why
Browsing the website (hosting)
The website is hosted by Netlify, Inc. (United States). Like any server, Netlify automatically logs some technical data about visits (IP address, browser type, requested page, date and time) to run the website and protect it from abuse. This data is not used to identify you and is deleted after a short period. Legal basis: legitimate interest in providing a secure, working website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Booking
The "Check availability" form takes you to the Krossbooking booking system (Kross Booking s.r.l., Italy), which manages availability, bookings and payments on our behalf. The data you enter there (name, contact details, dates of stay, payment details) is used to manage your booking and the related legal obligations, such as reporting guests to the police and handling the city tourist tax. Legal basis: performance of a contract or of pre-contractual steps you requested (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR).
Contact via WhatsApp, phone and email
If you message us on WhatsApp (a service of WhatsApp Ireland Ltd., Meta group), call us or email us, we use your number, your email address and what you write only to reply and to organise your stay. The WhatsApp button on the website simply opens the app: no data goes through WhatsApp until you decide to send the message. Legal basis: replying to your request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
Map
The Google Maps map loads only if you open it with a click. From that moment Google may receive your IP address and use its own cookies, under Google's privacy policy. Legal basis: your choice to load the map (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
Cookies
The website does not use profiling, advertising or analytics cookies, and its fonts are served from the website itself, without external services. That is why there is no cookie banner. Third-party cookies may appear only if you open the Google map or move to the Krossbooking booking website, which has its own privacy notice.
How long we keep data
- Technical browsing data: for the short period set by Netlify.
- Messages and information requests: as long as needed to reply and, if you book, for the length of your stay.
- Booking data: for as long as tax and legal obligations require.
Transfers outside the European Union
Netlify, Meta (WhatsApp) and Google may also process data in the United States. These transfers take place with the safeguards required by the GDPR, such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.
Who we share data with
Only with the providers listed above, each for its own purpose, and with the authorities when the law requires it. We never sell or hand over your data to anyone.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time to access, correct or delete your data, restrict or object to its use, or receive it in a portable format (Arts. 15 to 22 GDPR). If you gave consent, you can withdraw it whenever you like. Just write to ilvicolostorico@gmail.com. If you believe your data is being handled improperly, you can lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (www.garanteprivacy.it).
